16U  Game Updates - 2011

16's Fall Late vs Obrien         FM Sports took on 1st place Obrien this afternoon at Sammamish and it was another great game. Brandon Burditt knocked in Kyle Paqueo who had doubled in the 2nd inning. Jake Sleder ended the Obrien 3rd with a diving snag at SS but Obrien broke a 1-1 tie with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th on a bases clearing double and FM fell 5-1. Burditt was 2-3 with the sole RBI on the day.

16's Spilt Pair of Great Games with Bulldogs             FM Sports & the Kent Bulldogs played two exceptional baseball games on Sunday. Curtis Bafus threw a gem in the 1st game only to come up short 2-1 to the Bulldogs. However, FM responded with Willie Augustavo in Game 2 and in another close game found themseleves down 6-5 in the 7th. In part, thanks to a tremendous relay play from Dustin Bradshaw in right to 2B Kenny Holen to Catcher Josh Seefeld to stop a big run at the plate.  FM opened the 7th with a Willie Augustavo walk followed by a Brandon Burditt double to tie the game. Jake Sleder soon followed with a double of his own and FM earned a well deserved split with a solid Kent club.

Schmitt Steers the Ship - FM Gets W      Taylor Schmitt threw 4 solid innings allowing 0 earned runs in a much need victory for FM Sports over the Rips Brewers.  He also added a pair a singles to the effort.  Kenny Holen remained hot going 3-4 scoring 3 times.  Curtis Bafus had 3 RBI and Josh Seefeld's bases clearing 3B in the 7th proved to be the final blow in FM's 12-6 victory.

16's Fall in Finals to Woodinville        FM Sports 16U played in the Woodinville Invitational over the weekend winning a pair of games en route to the finals where they fell to the host Falcons.  Highlights of the weekend included big offensive efforts from Kenny Holen & Dustin Bradshaw who hit over .500 on the tournament. Curtis Bafus threw FM's semi final 2-1 win over Eastlake allowing just 1 run over 6 innings.

FM Sports Drops Opener       FM opened with Obrien & despite a good effort by starting pitcher Willie Augustavo, was unable to overcome miscues & missed opportunities as Obrien won 6-4.  Augustavo threw 5 solid innings allowing just 2 hits & 1 earned run but FM could not score runs when it had the chance.  Obrien on the other hand, took advantage of their opportunities and did the little things to win the game. Brandon Burditt opened the season going 2-4 with a double. Josh Seefeld had a pair of hits on the day and Taylor Schmitt clubbed a big 3-run home run to keep FM within striking distance in the 7th but it was not meant to be.
